Because Melania was a great first lady
I believe that the time has come, after Alan Friedman's hasty television statements, but not only for this (petty words that alone qualify those who use them), to praise Melania Trump, the forty-fifth first lady of America. To do it above all for the dignity and decorum, composure and style, with which he faced his role, which was not at all easy and obvious considering the excesses and often borderline exits of the president consort and considered the non-edifying example that it had in its predecessor, namely Michelle Obama.
Let me be clear, here we do not want to make a speech that binds the woman in a corner of her, as the false left feminism would immediately say. It simply means understanding that, as the solons of the other camp pretend to teach us only when it suits them, democracy, and the American one most of all, is made up of forms, liturgies, even rites.
And that of the first lady is a symbolic role as much as ever because she recalls her tradition and values, which for a "people without history" is a not indifferent social cement. You have to respect your role, regardless of gender, just as they respected it, to give just two examples in the other sense, Margareth Thatcher's husband, in her time, and that of Angela Merkel, still today.
Respecting one's role also means having respect for one's fellow citizens who have not voted for the spouse of a president and who therefore should not see such a person doing politics or preparing, using his spouse, his own political career (as did the Clinton and how, of course a thousand miles, Obama did and continues to do).
It was not easy also because one had the eyes of a media system oriented on one side only, ready to seize every small and human flaw in order to strike the president through a third party. And, not hesitating in order to reach the goal, to field the most extreme "sexism", as Friedman did roughly but as all those who have done in the past four years behind a hand denied to Trump or a more frowning face of the they usually imagined who knows what marital disagreements or disagreements.
Already forgetting that theirs is a consolidated and long-standing marriage (not counting the equally long engagement) and with a son, Barron, who, in spite of any respect for minors, was even made fun of for some of his widespread Behavioral "disturbances" as an adolescent.
