Bill Gates' pre-divorce affairs are said to be an open secret
Bill Gates' affairs were an open secret, according to one article, and a member of Melinda's inner circle hired a private investigator before she filed for a divorce. Since Bill Gates and Melinda French Gates announced their divorce last month, reports have questioned the Microsoft founder 's reputation as a benevolent nerd and detailed allegations that he had an inappropriate professional relationship.
An article by Gabriel Sherman, Nick Bilton and Emily Jane Fox, of Vanity Fair, published Monday, suggests that Gates' affairs were known to those around him - people close to Bill Gates told the magazine they were not a secret. Two sources also told Vanity Fair that someone in French Gates' inner circle worked with a private investigator before the divorce. A spokesperson for French Gates told Insider that "neither Melinda nor anyone at her head has ever hired a private investigator."
In a statement in response to the Vanity Fair article, a spokesperson for Bill Gates told Insider: “It is extremely disappointing that there have been so many untruths published about the cause, the circumstances and the Bill Gates Divorce Timeline. " "Rumors and speculation are becoming more and more absurd and it is unfortunate that people who have little or no knowledge of the situation are referred to as 'sources'."
Bill Gates implicated in many other articles in the American press
A former employee told Vanity Fair he saw signs of Bill Gates' deception in the way he traded cars in the office. According to them, the founder of Microsoft sometimes drove a Mercedes to work and left an hour later in a golden Porsche brought by his security personnel. “We all assumed it was when he was with women,” the former employee said. "I knew there were a lot of offsite meetings that weren't on his agenda."
But another source close to Bill Gates told the magazine it was unlike him to disappear from the office, describing him as "one of the most intensely programmed people on the planet." Vanity Fair's article on Bill Gates' behavior is one of many topics that have appeared since the divorce announcement on May 3. On May 16, the New York Times reported that Bill Gates sued women at Microsoft while he was married.
The Wall Street Journal meanwhile claimed that Microsoft's board of directors opened an investigation into the businessman in 2019 following an employee's statement that she had an affair with him. Bill Gates stepped down from the board in 2020. His spokesperson said it had nothing to do with the investigation.
