Meghan and Harry: Was Elisabeth II informed of their daughter's first name?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have chosen to name their daughter Lilibet, in honor of Queen Elisabeth II.

“It is with great joy that Prince Harry and Meghan welcome their daughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. "On Sunday June 6, it was through an official statement posted on their Archewell website that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced the news: they are parents for the second time. A happy event greeted with joy by the members of the royal family who in turn congratulated the couple on social networks, and more particularly by Queen Elisabeth II, to whom the Duke and Duchess of Sussex paid a beautiful tribute. Indeed, the two spouses chose to call their daughter Lilibet, the nickname given to the sovereign since her childhood.

A symbolic wink, more than a year after the Megxit and their move across the Atlantic, of which the Queen had been notified long before the official announcement. In any case, this is what several foreign media claim, including "The Telegraph". While some argue that the choice of the Sussexes caught the royal family off guard, aides at Buckingham Palace confirm that she was indeed "aware" of their will.

Not surprisingly, Prince Harry enjoys a special relationship with his grandmother. “I have spoken to my grandmother more in the past year than I have in many, many years. My grandmother and I have a very good relationship, we understand each other and I have a deep respect for her ", he confided in March, during his television interview with Oprah Winfrey. A month later, Meghan Markle's husband returned to English soil after long months of absence, to attend the funeral of his grandfather, Prince Philip, but also to meet with Queen Elisabeth II.

" WE ARE PLEASED "

Hours after the official announcement of Lilibet's birth this weekend, Kate Middleton and Prince William took to their social media to congratulate Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. Unveiling a black and white snapshot of the two spouses with their son Archie - who had also served to announce the second pregnancy of the ex-star of "Suits" last February, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge jointly wrote: "We are delighted by the arrival of baby Lili. Congratulations to Harry, Meghan and Archie. A few minutes later, Buckingham Palace in turn posted a congratulatory message, stating that Lilibet was the eleventh great-grandchildren of Elizabeth II.
