Meghan Markle warning: Queen fury as Sussexes ‘go own way’ - ‘Won’t tolerate it’

Queen ELIZABETH II has signalled she won’t tolerate any royal “stepping out of line” by dealing swiftly with the crisis created by Prince Andrew’s interview to Newsnight, in a clear warning to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, a royal source said.

The Queen showed she would always put the Crown before her family by allowing Prince Andrew, widely believed to be her favourite son, to quit as senior royal, a royal source said. The monarch simply won’t allow any member of the Royal Family to put in danger the survival of the institution of monarchy in a clear warning to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the source added.

They told The Sun: “The Queen has acted quickly and decisively.

“She’s back in control.

“This scandal with Andrew and Epstein was threatening the crown and she wasn’t prepared to let personal feelings stand in the way of protecting the institution.

“This is a warning to any of the younger royals, particularly Meghan and Harry, that she won’t tolerate them stepping out of line.”

The source claimed the Queen was not happy with the way Meghan and Harry have been “doing their own thing” in the past month, straying from the traditional royal way of doing things.

Among the actions taken by Meghan and Harry which, the source said, displeased the monarch there is the ITV documentary, Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, aired in October, where the Sussexes voiced their worries and struggles with the media scrutiny.

The source continued: “She was not happy with the TV interview they did and them generally doing their own thing.

“The House of York has a history of doing its own thing, and look where that has got them.

“The Sussexes need to take heed, keep their heads down, do a programme of British engagements up and down the country and most of all do as they’re told.”

Earlier this month, Daily Express royal correspondent Richard Palmer also said the Queen was not happy with the way Meghan and Harry have been dealing with the media.

Speaking about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’ legal case against the Mail on Sunday and Harry’s inflammatory statement against the tabloid press issued during the tour to Africa, Mr Palmer said: “There has been no support from within the Royal Family, as far as I can tell, for Harry and Meghan’s confrontational approach to the media.

“They are out on a limb on that.

“The Queen, Charles and Camilla, and the Cambridges don’t think it a good idea and there have been words.

“They’ve all had their ups and downs with the media but the Queen is disappointed how it’s all turned out in the first 18 months of the Sussexes’ marriage.

“Like others in the family, she is concerned about their emotional wellbeing and she sees them regularly.”

Prince Harry and Meghan are taking a six-week break from their royal duties, as announced by their spokesperson earlier this month.

Prince Harry carried out on Sunday night his last engagement for the foreseeable future, and isn’t expected to be seen working until January next year.

Meghan and Harry also said they will spend Christmas with Archie and Doria Ragland, the Duchess’ mother, rather than with the rest of the Royal Family in Sandringham.

The statement read: “Having spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, Their Royal Highnesses will spend the holiday this year, as a new family, with the Duchess’ mother Doria Ragland.

“This decision is in line with precedent set previously by other members of the Royal Family, and has the support of Her Majesty The Queen.”
