Meghan Markle’s former best friend Jessica Mulroney posts cryptic Instagram message
Canadian stylist Jessica Mulroney may have just used her Instagram account to send her former BFF Meghan Markle a cryptic message.
The 41-year-old posted a message to her Instagram stories that appears to make a veiled reference to her falling out with Meghan last year.
“Life changes. You lose love. You lose friends,” she wrote.
“You lose pieces of yourself that you never imagined would be gone.
“And then, without even realising it, those pieces come back.
“Never love enters. Better friends come along.
“And a stronger, wiser you is staring back in the mirror.”
The pair, once fast friends, allegedly fell out last year after Mulroney was accused of exercising “white privilege” against a black social media influencer, Page Six reports.
According to the publication, Markle had begun to feel that Mulroney was “exploiting” their friendship.
The pair met in Toronto while filming the legal drama Suits in 2011, well before Meghan Markle met Prince Harry and became The Duchess of Sussex.
The rift broke out when Canadian blogger and influencer Sasha Exeter, who is black, called out Mulroney, accusing her of sending offensive messages during the Black Lives Matter campaign.
Exeter had called for people with large social media followings to get more involved in the movement.
She claimed Mulroney had tried to sabotage her campaign, calling Mulroney’s actions “textbook white privilege.”
Exeter then shared screenshots appearing to show Mulroney threatening to sue her.
Mulroney lost her roles on several American TV shows - and Markle began to distance herself from her former close friend.
The last straw appeared to be when she made reference to Markle in an attempt to rebuild her career.
“I have lived a very public and personal experience with my closest friend where race was front and centre,” she wrote on Instagram.
Prior to the spat, Mulroney had been a close companion for Markle, observing as she met Prince Harry and began negotiating the ups and downs of royal life.
Mulroney and her husband, the son of a former Canadian prime minister, attended Harry and Meghan’s 2018 wedding, taking an active part in the ceremony.
But the Black Lives Matter moment in the middle of last year seemed to signal the beginning of the end of their friendship.
Markle began to gradually withdraw, although page Six reports that she did send Mulroney birthday flowers in March this year.
“When Meghan makes a decision to ghost someone she doesn’t usually go back,” one source told The Sun.
