Prince Harry strikes again: he doesn't want to give up his military titles
After a year of the Megxit and about to review his situation, the grandson of Isabel II is not willing to do without the titles and achievements obtained throughout his career in the army
If a year ago and after the famous Megxit, you know, the departure of Harry and Meghan as official members of the British Royal House, someone would have told us that this agreement would settle any possible controversy in their family environment and that the Dukes of Sussex were going to leave in peace, it is because he did not know that there was still much to say and do. The latest controversy? Leaving Meghan Markle aside, this time it is Prince Harry who is in the eye of the hurricane, and it is that the British newspaper 'The Telegraph' has published that the grandson of Elizabeth II does not have the slightest intention of giving up his military titles.
We talk about positions and achievements obtained during more than 10 years of career in the army, such as that of captain general of the Royal Marine Corps or that of honorary air commander of RAF Honington, that Harry, in theory and much to his regret, left free to his departure and subsequent transfer to Los Angeles, a mandatory condition that the queen herself imposed in that agreement and that now the prince wants to review. Elizabeth II made it clear at the time that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could not live "with one foot in and one foot out" of the royal family, something like an 'all or nothing'. The most normal thing is that throughout this year those titles would have fallen to the figure of an active member of the Royal House; What's more, there are sources that point to Princess Anne or her brother, Prince William, as possible heirs, but for now those positions have remained in 'stand by' and hence Harry's intention to recover them.
At least, this is what a friend of the prince has assured to the newspaper in question: "His work as a military man at the front is one of the most important things for him and of course he wants to keep those titles." As proof of this, Prince Harry would be willing to spend more time in the UK in order to get involved in his role as part of the army. And if this year, his first of his was from the royal family, he has not done so, it has been for issues associated with the pandemic and not for seeking a total distancing.
This intention is made public at the right time, just weeks after the agreement signed by both parties, by the Royal House and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, passes its first annual review. He will do it in March 2021, as an unavoidable turning point after his departure, an operation that is scheduled to be repeated every year and that gives Harry the opportunity to regain his post in the army. A good news that the prince would welcome with open arms and that would undoubtedly return his illusion, since his friend has pointed out that "Harry was devastated by having to give up his titles last year, but he had no other option".
