The Meghan look that stole Prince Harry’s heart – and the pal who got her to try the look

Meghan Markle’s look at the Invictus Games last year “sealed the deal” with Prince Harry, a close friend of Duchess of Sussex, Misha Nonoo, has revealed.

Misha Nonoo, who has known Meghan Markle for years, designed 'The Husband Shirt' the Duchess famously wore during her first public appearance with Harry.

Meghan was photographed in the button-down cotton number with ripped jeans in the stands of the Invictus Games in Toronto.

Just days after the Royal Wedding, a sponsored post from the American-based fashion designer described it as “the shirt that sealed the deal”.

Two years before Meghan became the Duchess of Sussex, Ms Nonoo whisked the former Suits star on a three-week holiday of Europe over the summer of 2016.

It was also the same summer that Meghan met Prince Harry, which has fuelled speculation Ms Nonoo is the secret friend who set the pair up.

Ms Nonoo told The Times: “She’s a wonderful and remarkable woman and I have the most enormous respect for her.”

But Meghan’s friend refused to comment more, adding: “It’s a personal relationship, very important to me. I can’t say anything more about her.”

The fashion designer’s estranged husband, Alexander Gilkes, also attended Eton with Prince Harry and William.

Ms Nonoo’s business has not always been a success an at one point the fashion designer feared she could loose it all.

She added: “In the nitty-gritty of having my own fashion business there were moments when I didn’t think I was going to make it, that I was going to go out of business if I didn’t figure this out.”

However, things seem to have picked up for Meghan and Harry’s friend as she was pictured on holiday in Jordan with Princess Beatrice, the model Karlie Kloss and the singer Ellie Goulding in April.

Ms Nonoo said: “I never wanted to be a fashion designer for vanity’s sake.

“It was to have a business that was successful and that touched women’s lives. And I feel that I’m doing that.”
