Why did you admire Princess Diana?
20 years ago we tragically lost not only a British Royalty icon, but a women that would serve as an example and aspiration of the million of young ladies all around the world. 20 years ago, we lost Princess Diana of Wales, a true representation of true royal highness.
Born in a broken home, Princess Diana grew up as with several mental health issues, being then subjected brutally to the doctrine of a family and a life full of appearances and lies. Filled with loneliness, Diana developed an intense depression, bulimia and several insecurities being these fed by her own husband, Prince Charles of Wales. I know it's important not to define Diana as the princess with mental problems. But the fact that Diana suffered from these can help many people not to feel ashamed of their own problems.
Her well-deserved nickname "Diana of Love" perfectly describes how she lived her royal life, changing forever the perspective the world have of a Princess. Diana used to predicate love, recommending to make random acts of kidness and giving hugs to make a difference, she was never afraid of showing how much she cared for the rest of the human beings. Calling out the world's intolerance, proclaming that helping the one who suffers is the way to reach full happinnes. She easily became a queen on the people's heart.
Diana is a woman to admire, always ready to help the less fortunate and using her privilage to speak about social issues, somethings even going againts the royal family to do so. A selfless woman, with a heart so big everyone could live in it. Her legacy will always live, and we young women will always look up to her as one of the most iconic and beloved role models, from generation to generation.
“I think the biggest disease the world suffers from in this day and age is the disease of people feeling unloved. I know that I can give love for a minute, for half an hour, for a day, for a month, but I can give. I am very happy to do that, I want to do that.” - Lady Diana of Wales.
