Why Prince Harry's beard does not pass with the military

Prince Harry offended the military by showing off with a full beard during Remembrance Sunday commemorative ceremonies held Sunday November 12 in London.

Although he left the military in 2015, Prince Harry never misses an opportunity to don the uniform when required, as do his father Charles and brother William, who are also regulars. It is therefore quite natural that he adorned his military uniform last Sunday in front of the Cenotaph in Whitehall in London, during the commemorative ceremonies of Remembrance Sunday, in memory of the soldiers who disappeared during the Second World War. He attended alongside his brother, Prince William, his uncle Prince Andrew and his father Prince Charles, the latter being responsible for laying a wreath on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II.

While the young man’s attitude and demeanor were flawless, one detail angered the military: Prince Harry's full beard. Dissatisfied, a soldier thus expressed his disapproval in the columns of the Daily Mail, explaining that the prince "had shamed them all. He continued, arguing that "beards had no place in the Queen's cavalry and he should have shaved her off on such an important day."

The Defense Ministry still wanted to defend the young man, explaining that having left the army two years ago, he did not have to shave. “He is no longer a serving officer and, in this regard, no longer has to obey any of these rules. However, as a member of the royal family, his duties sometimes require him to wear the uniform of an associated regiment and he does so with a beard, just as his great-great-grandfather did before him ”.
