William and Harry, that's why the relationship between brothers is "broken."
When the 35-year-old met Meghan, his brother and Kate Middleton would have advised him to be "cautious". But he didn't want to wait. To exacerbate everything, the "crazy expenses" of the Sussexes: thousands of pounds for massage, acupuncture and aromatherapy
Millions of people around the world watched Princess Diana's youngest son, Prince Harry, get married to former Hollywood star Meghan Markle in May 2018. But it was not yet known at the time that their idea of "happily ever after" would be hundreds of miles away from Buckingham Palace.
Inevitably, the relationship between the two brothers, between William, 38, and his younger brother Harry, 35, was also affected. And between Harry and his sister-in-law Kate Middleton, once considered "the sister he never had."
The second son of Carlo and Diana has thus taken a step back, giving up being a senior member of the family. This took place last January, after a year - according to everyone - "stormy" for the two brothers. So much so that Harry even went so far as to admit it publicly: “We are certainly on different paths. We no longer see each other as we used to ... we have good days, and bad days ", he said in the now famous documentary of October 2019. Harry would then leave London without stopping to talk to his brother, without further clarifications and explanations .
And now a new biography, yet another from this last month, wants to add new details on the rift between Carlo's children. In Royal At War, available in Britain from June 30, investigative journalists Dylan Howard and Andy Tillett claim that Kate has repeatedly urged Prince Harry to "take it slow", because according to the Duchess of Cambride it would take "Time, care and attention" to make sure that Meghan could integrate with the (royal) family.
"She kindly reminded him that she was dating someone with a completely different life, past and career and it would take time, care and attention to integrate," the authors write. But William and Kate's doubts led Harry to believe that "the royal family and even the palace aides were against him and his new mate." And again: «It is my opinion that Harry has the feeling that he has not been able to protect his mother, and that therefore he will do everything to protect his wife. He is so sensitive that he often sees criticism or negativity where there is none, ”added an insider.
In addition, William and Harry would have further distanced themselves from the "spree" made by the Sussexes in the wake of their marriage. As the Daily Mail reports, anticipating the book, Harry would have spent more than £ 6,000 in a few months on some acupuncture treatments. And he and the former American actress would have spent a few days - before the arrival of the eldest child - at Heckfield Place, a luxury spa in Hampshire, where three nights are said to cost around 33,000 pounds. Meghan's idea, in fact, has always been to increase her husband's "well-being" also with aromatherapy and massages. And for her wardrobe during her pregnancy, Meghan would have spent almost 500,000 pounds.
And that would have created discontent among the older Windsor members. The queen, moreover, is famous for being thrifty: "Growing up during the war left the sovereign with a sense of frugality and economy, despite the fact that she is one of the richest women in the world."
But how are the two today? According to royal expert Katie Nicholl, the relationship between the two would improve. To bring them closer together, concern for their father, Prince Charles, who contracted the coronavirus in early April. "There have clearly been some pretty big rifts in their relationship," Nicholl told ET, "but things have improved and I know William and Harry are now in telephone contact." In the last period, the two brothers would have participated in several family video calls. Putting an ocean in between was also good for Harry and William.
