Kate 'central' in keeping Prince William on royal path as 'jealousy' towards Harry grows
KATE, the Duchess of Cambridge has played a "central role" in keeping Prince William focussed on the Royal Family pathway ahead of him, according to a former Royal Editor at The Sun.
Duncan Larcombe told talkRADIO that the Duchess of Cambridge has been key to supporting Prince William as the couple waits to fulfill their destiny as King and Queen Consort. The royal commentator added that Prince William will be slightly jealous of Prince Harry's freedom, wealth and glamorous lifestyle.
Mr Larcombe said: "I have never picked up from William personally anything to suggest he is trapped and that he is a reluctant royal.
"I think certain instances historically that would perhaps back up Prince Harry's assertion that frankly does not even want the job.
"Kate has played a central role in this since they got married 10 years ago, they are there to fulfill a destiny, to support the Queen and Prince Charles.
"William gets the duty bit and he is trying to fill that role."
He continued: "He could have gone in a completely different direction, he could have quite easily been a rebellious Prince just like his brother.
"In some ways actually, privately William will be a little jealous of Harry.
"Especially if it gets to the point where even the stuff William has to do is overshadowed by his own free, very wealthy, very glitz brother."
Earlier this week, a royal commentator warned the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge that the Royal Family must be reinvented for the UK's younger generation or "it will die of boredom".
Royal commentator Antonio Caprarica stated during an Instagram interview that the memories of the empire the Queen represents have no meaning to young Britons.
He added that Prince William and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge risk that the Royal Family will die from boredom rather than scandal due to their "mild" and "good guy" perception.
Mr Caprarica said: "The problem is also that of offering England - a young country - a fairly young king. You cannot give him some old dodderer for another 40 years.
"For the new generations, the empire has no meaning.
"Elizabeth is accepted because she is everyone's grandmother but without her, the same pomp will not be accepted and we will probably go towards a monarchy "on a bicycle" like the Scandinavian ones.
"However, the risk with William and Kate is that the Crown will not die of scandals, but of boredom!
"They are a fairly mild family, they are very good guys, while the Windsors have always been the object of a spasmodic curiosity for their stories."
