But on Saturday, Kate Middleton agreed to make very rare confidences about her role as a mother. The Duchess of Cambridge opened up in an intimate 40-minute interview to the "Happy Mum, Happy Baby" podcast on the occasion of the early childhood investigation that Prince William's wife launched on Wednesday.
George’s mother, Charlotte and Louis, first returned to her happy childhood, raised by "devoted parents" and surrounded by her brother and sister. “I really appreciate, as a parent today, how they sacrificed themselves for us. They came to all of our games, they were the type to cheer us on all the way on the sidelines, and we always had a wonderful vacation together, ”she recalled. Her ability to fully live the moments spent with those around her comes from her “extraordinary grandmother”, who “devoted a lot of time to us, played with us, made us do manual activities or cooked with us”. This simple and normal childhood, the Duchess wishes to pass it on to her own children. “I have this picture of Charlotte smelling a flower and those are the kinds of moments that matter to me as a parent. And I do everything I can every day to make them experience these moments, even the shortest and even if I don't have time, ”she explained.
But that’s not all easy. Very busy with her role in the royal family, Kate Middleton is often on the move and has to face the questions of her children: “Again this morning, George and Charlotte told me: 'Mum, how is it possible that Are you not coming with us to school this morning? Harry and Meghan's sister-in-law also spoke sweetly about memories of her first childbirth and her debut as a mom. " The start of her pregnancy, however, was not easy for the Duchess who suffered from severe morning sickness. “I was not the happiest of pregnant women. And that wasn't the only challenge for Kate. After the birth of George, the future King of England, she had to respect tradition and have her picture taken in front of the maternity hospital, holding her newborn baby in her arms. "It was terrifying, I'm not going to lie," she commented. “Everyone had been so supportive of us and William and I knew people were very impatient about it all, on our side we were grateful for the love of the audience and it was very important to share our joy with people. ". Once this passage in front of the photographers ended, Kate, William and their little George were able to return home, to three, for the first time. “I wanted to get back to some kind of normalcy because for me being in the hospital was like being sick,” she said. “In fact, with your first child you think everything will go back to how it was before but I had underestimated the impact it would have on our lives and unless you have a child you don't realize how much you have to prepare everything ”.
The royal couple have three children: Prince George, six, Princess Charlotte, 4, and Prince Louis, 20 months. They are respectively third, fourth and fifth in the order of succession to the British throne. In a previous interview, Kate had confided to having felt "sometimes alone and quite isolated" during her debut as a young mother.
