One of the puppies was reportedly close to death and both were dehydrated and seriously ill, TMZ reported.
Both dogs require a special diet and one has severe digestive problems, which is why the housekeeper was concerned when she saw the puppies regularly fed table scraps, according to the site.
Looking at the animals, the vet became concerned and Britney's employee decided to continue caring for the canines rather than taking them home.
But Britney suspected that her father, Jamie Spears, was trying to take the dogs away amid his battle for guardianship of the singer, and accused the housekeeper of sending photos of the sick puppies to her father. The housekeeper later claimed that Britney hit her on the arm.
The pop star got the dogs back from her on Friday, while the housekeeper apparently no longer works for her, TMZ said.
