Kim Kardashian reveals her simple trick to make lips appear thicker
No touch-ups or exclusive products, just using the magic of 'contouring'
There is no doubt that Kim Kardashian has been the celebrity who has democratized contouring, a technique that professional makeup artists have always used but, until a few seasons ago, was only popular backstage. Since Kim and her family became famous more than ten years ago through their reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians, both she and her sisters have revealed to their millions of followers what are the beauty secrets behind a always perfect makeup.
Contouring the features with the help of a tone darker than the skin has always been one of her fundamental steps. Recently, the businesswoman has recounted another use that she has found for the technique, according to E! News; this time, the goal is to enlarge the size of her lips.
Kardashian uses a cream stick one or two shades darker than her own skin to surround the edges of her lips; thus creates a shadow around them. Afterwards, she softens her line by blurring it with her fingertips. Thanks to this trick, the illusion of a mouth with more volume is created, although it must be done with some caution since, according to Kim, “you cannot go too high because it will appear that you have a mustache”.
In addition to her lips, Kim has also revealed that the forehead is one of the features that she likes to visually modify through this technique. She draws with her contouring stick some lines that are very close to the hair growth line and then blends them with the help of a brush. One of her tricks to achieve that the product melts completely with the skin is to make upward movements with the brush, towards the hair. In this way, the clearer line that usually remains at the beginning of the scalp and that makes the result seem very artificial is avoided.
To contour both her mouth and her forehead, the businesswoman uses the Crème Contour Stick from her own makeup line, KKW Beauty, but almost all firms carry products of this type. The stick foundation from the Infallible range, by L'Oréal Paris, or the Velvet Matte Foundation Stick, by Nars, are two examples available in many different shades.
