At 56 years of age, Tom Cruise is only interested in continuing to make films that entertain audiences.
The actor stars in Mission: Impossible-Fallout, a film in which he did his own stunts, including a 25-foot jump from a plane.
"Since I was four years old, I have wanted to make movies," Cruise said Wednesday in an interview for the cover of People magazine. "To be able to entertain the audience, that was my dream."
However, fans are even more captivated by the artist's personal life than by his performances on the big screen.
Unlike today's celebrities who expose every detail of his life on social media, Cruise is extremely jealous of his private life, especially after his divorce from actress Katie Holmes in 2012.
"He's a mysterious character," said actor Simon Pegg, who worked with Tom on Fallout. "People speculate about him and decide their own truth about him," added the interpreter. "He doesn't really do anything. He stays away from all of that."
According to the publication, Cruise has been kept busy working on different films in recent years and living in hotel rooms. Although the actor has reportedly been on a few romantic dates, he has been single for "most of his adult life."
Cruise is in love with London. He became fascinated with the city in 1984, when he recorded the movie Legend there, and whenever he can he tries to return. Her 25-year-old daughter Isabella, whom he adopted with Nicole Kidman, also resides in London with her husband.
The actor no longer lives in Hollywood and sold his Los Angeles properties for $ 39 million. However, he acquired a luxurious apartment in Clearwater, Florida, located one block from the Church of Scientology headquarters.
Tom is one of the most prominent members of the controversial religion and has a great friendship with its leader, David Miscavige. Cruise and Kidman's 23-year-old son Connor also resides in the area.
Many wonder if the actor is related to Suri, his youngest daughter, the result of her marriage to Holmes. The young woman resides in Los Angeles with her mother.
"He loves all his children," stated a source. "Each of them has the right to his own story."
But the celebrity wants the audience to focus on his work.
"I like to learn new things and take my skills to the next level. As a person I don't do anything in half," explained the actor.
In March, Cruise told The Graham Norton Show that he was still recovering from an ankle injury he sustained months ago while filming Mission Impossible.
"I have not fully recovered yet, but we are filming and we have a release date, so I have to continue," said the actor. "I spent 8-10 hours a day, seven days a week in rehab because we still have a lot of scenes to shoot ... but I'm fine."
