Angelina Jolie received Cambodian citizenship
American actress Angelina Jolie received Cambodian nationality in recognition of the financial help she provides to safeguard the fauna and flora of Cambodia, according to the state broadcaster of the Asian country.
The decree granting Cambodian nationality to the American star and goodwill ambassador of the United Nations (UN) was signed by King Norodom Sihamoni this week, before the monarch undertook an official visit to China.
"The king signed the legal papers and that means that she now has Cambodian citizenship," reported Toun Siphan, director of the Department of International Relations.
Jolie has an adopted son in Cambodia, Maddox, she has visited this country on numerous occasions for private reasons and also to intervene in the filming of at least one movie.
