Ivanka Trump could be her dad’s 2024 running mate,
Ivanka Trump might see the vice presidency as a stepping stone for her ultimate goal: becoming America’s first female president, reports say
Maybe this is why Ivanka Trump nixed the idea of challenging Marco Rubio for his senate seat in Florida: She has the bigger ambition of running for vice president of the United States.
Bloomberg has reported that Donald Trump is “strongly considering” running again for president in 2024, but he’s also thinking of dumping Mike Pence as his running mate. Instead, his advisers said he should consider a Black or female running mate, with a top choice being South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem.
But Vanity Fair, citing a New York magazine report, said it’s possible that Trump “could try to keep it in the family in 2024,” and Ivanka Trump would the likely contender.
Vanity Fair also said Ivanka Trump probably sees herself as “the obvious choice.” After all, she’s supposedly Trump’s favorite child and she served as his White House senior adviser. That makes her a more likely political partner for her father than her older brother, Donald Trump Jr., or her sister-in-law, Lara Trump, even though the two proved themselves to be especially popular campaigners for Trump’s MAGA brand.
Ivanka Trump also was chosen to introduce her father when he delivered his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention in August, a sign that Trump highly regards her future political potential, observers said at the time.
Trump touted his daughter’s qualifications to be vice president at a campaign rally in New Hampshire in August, the Daily Beast reported. He said Kamala Harris, a U.S. senator and former California attorney general, was “not competent” enough to become the first female president, then suggested Ivanka would be a much better fit.
“I want to see the first woman president also, but I don’t want to see the first woman president get into the position the way (Harris) would do it, and she’s not competent, she’s not competent,” Trump said, according to The Daily Beast.
“They’re all saying, ‘We want Ivanka!'” he continued, pointing to cheering supporters near the stage.
“I don’t blame them,” Trump said, even though his daughter’s professional background almost entirely consists of working for her father in some capacity.
If Ivanka Trump were to be her father’s running mate, she might see the vice presidency as a stepping stone for her ultimate goal, Vanity Fair said. Several books about the Trump family, and about Ivanka Trump in particular, have said she harbors presidential ambitions. According to Michael Wolff’s book, “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House,” Ivanka Trump and Jared Kusher made “an earnest deal” that Ivanka would run for president before her husband.
“The first woman president, Ivanka entertained, would not be Hillary Clinton; it would be Ivanka Trump,” Wolff wrote. Emily Jane Fox, author of “Born Trump: Inside America’s First Family,” also quoted friends of Ivanka’s who said she’s thought about running for president one day.
Meanwhile, if Trump runs to take back the White House in 2024, it would be good for him to pick a female running mate or someone who can appeal to voters he lost in 2020, Alyssa Farah, a former communications director for Trump, told Bloomberg.
Trump certainly hinted at running again at the recent Conservative Political Action Conference CPAC, Bloomberg said. Trump listed his accomplishments during his term in the White House, repeated his false claim that he won the 2020 election and added, “Who knows? I may even decide to beat them a third time.”
