Marilyn Manson: What was the singer recently accused of and what consequences did it bring to his career?

This week, Marilyn Manson is trending again on social media, but not for good news. Here we tell you all the details about the accusation that weighs on the American singer

Last Monday, February 1, Brian Hugh Warner, better known by his stage name Marilyn Manson, was accused by actress Evan Rachel Wood and four other women for having sexually, physically and emotionally abused them. The stories were spread on social networks and have already had serious consequences on the artist.

"In light of today's disturbing allegations by Evan Rachel Wood and other women naming Marilyn Manson as their abuser, Loma Vista will stop promoting her current album with immediate effect," Loma Vista Recordings posted on her Instagram account.

"We have also decided not to work with Marilyn Manson on future projects," added the record company that once recorded with the 52-year-old singer.

Wood's story was the first to see the light and became the trigger for other women to be encouraged to tell their terrible experiences with Manson. From psychological violence, to physical and sexual abuse of couples and women who have been part of his environment.

"The name of my abuser is Brian Warner, also known to the world as Marilyn Manson," Wood wrote on his social networks this Monday. “He started grooming me when I was a teenager and abused me horribly for years. I was brainwashed and manipulated into subjugating me. I am done living in fear of retaliation, slander or blackmail. I'm here to expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that have allowed him before he ruins more lives. I am with the many victims who will no longer be silent, ”explained the 33-year-old actress.

Wood had a relationship with the musician when she was 19 and he was 38 years old. They started dating in 2007 and got engaged in 2010, but they broke up that same year. In those years - exactly 2009 - Manson assured during an interview with Spin that he had fantasies about "breaking his skull with a mallet", referring to his partner at the time.

Regarding these controversial statements, a representative of the artist pointed out that they should be framed as part of an interview with a rock star who was interested in promoting a new album, so it should not be taken as "a factual account."

Evan Rachel Wood had talked about the abuse before

In 2018, Wood testified before the House Judiciary Committee and recounted her experience without giving the name of her assailant.

"My experience with sexist violence was this: toxic, mental, physical and sexual abuse that started slowly, but intensified over time, and included threats against my life, serious psychological harassment and brainwashing," he said in that opportunity the actress.

The artist did so as part of efforts to promote a change of legislation in California. At that time, it was sought to extend the statute of limitations for crimes of domestic violence from 3 to 5 years. The change was confirmed in 2019 and took effect last year.

What do the other accusations say against Marilyn Manson?

After Wood came out in front of her on her social networks, other women were encouraged to give her testimony. To date, there are four accounts of Manson's violence against them:

Ashley walters

This woman claimed that she worked for Manson full time as a personal assistant. She related that the artist frequently starred in violent episodes in which she threw glass plates and heavy objects.

Walters also said that the musician offered her to have sex with her collaborators, in addition to her when she ended her employment relationship, Manson continued to harass her. Ella walters assures that she still struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder and the depression that this experience left her.

Gabriella - SourGirrrl

Gabriella is an artist also known as SourGirrl on Instagram, she claims that Manson repeatedly tied her up and raped her. According to her extensive testimony, she was 22 when she began a relationship with the then 46-year-old musician.

During that time, Manson subdued her and forced her to take drugs, even putting her life in danger, since she once had to be treated by paramedics in a hotel. Manson did not want to be taken to a hospital, even though it was the suggestion of her professionals.

She lived locked in rooms. She said Manson demanded that she make a blood pact and cut off both of her hands with a broken bottle. These types of episodes were affecting her, to the point that she spent a Christmas in the hospital after having tried to commit suicide.

Following her breakup with Manson she was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder. She still suffers from nightmares.

Sarah McNeilly

The ordeal that Sarah McNeilly recounts on her Instagram account is similar to Grabriella's, since she also lived locked in rooms. She was verbally abused "for hours", Manson threw her against a wall and "threatened to hit me in the face with a baseball bat."

Like he did with his previous victims, Manson lured McNeilly with a "love bombardment." She posed as "the perfect boyfriend" and claimed "that he was simply misunderstood", she tells her in a long Instagram post.

“While courting me, I found out that he was torturing other people. Before long it was I who was being tortured, ”writes McNeilly.

Manson alienated her from her friends, especially male friends of hers. If she did not agree, the musician "threatened to go after them." He also did not allow her to approach other artists, since he said that they were sick with AIDS and that if she did that "it would make him very angry."

“They told me stories of others who tried to tell her story and her pets ended up dead (...) She slanders her exes. I have been afraid of drawing attention to myself to avoid falling back into her crosshairs ”, she says, terrified in her story.

Following her relationship with Manson, McNeilly claims that she suffers from mental health problems and post-traumatic stress disorder. This has affected her personal life and her professional development.

Ashley lindsay morgan

Model Ashley Lindsay Morgan also shared her testimony on Instagram. She says that she met him between 2009 and 2010, when she was modeling in Thailand. Manson got in touch with her thanks to a photographer friend they had in common, the musician sent him to say that he wanted to see her for a project of hers.

“When we met, we talked about literature and movies. He seemed like a smart, authentic and caring man. After a long time talking and texting us, he flew me to Los Angeles to be part of a series of movies and photos. He said that she believed in me as an actress, and I had confided to her that she had wanted to get out of modeling, it seemed like a perfect opportunity, "said Morgan.

"He was like many of the musicians I have met ... but with cocaine and absinthe," the model writes on her Instagram. Manson made her feel safe at first, before long she was already staying with him at the Roosevelt Hotel. This was as fast as things started to "get darker and darker".

Manson put rules for her and if she didn't follow them, she would find herself in "trouble" with the musician. Morgan describes that there was abuse, sexual violence, physical violence and coercion against her. He did not let her sleep before 3:00 a.m., but mistreated her.

She at times she "she was not allowed to eat, sleep, or leave" the Manson home. She claims that the musician mistreated her, cut her off and burned her.

As a bonus episode, Manson asked him for Nazi items. Since she frequently went to Asia and on this continent there are usually these types of relics from World War II. She is Jewish and doing these kinds of favors for the musician embarrassed her and made her feel a lot of guilt.

She also says her relationship with Manson left her with post-traumatic stress, anxiety and night terrors.

Following the accusations, in addition to the rejection of his old record company, Manson was also removed from "American Gods." The artist was going to have a special participation in a chapter that has not yet been broadcast on platforms such as Amazon.

What has Marilyn Manson responded?

Manson has not given the version of him to the press, but he decided to respond on his Instagram account. "Obviously, my art and my life have been magnets for controversy for a long time, but these recent statements about me are horrible distortions of reality," the musician wrote on his social networks on Monday.

“My intimate relationships have always been completely spoiled with partners like me. Regardless of how, and why, others now choose to misrepresent the past, this is the truth, "he added. in the same Instagram post.
