TAYLOR SWIFT ACHIEVES A HISTORICAL MUSICAL MILESTONE IN THE UNITED STATES
No one in history had managed to be a best-selling artist for 5 years
Taylor Swift has managed to break all the historical records of record sales in the United States since there are records (in 1992). The soloist has managed, for the fifth time in her musical career, to be the best-selling artist in the North American country thanks to Folklore.
As we said in the headline, the Pennsylvania artist has marked a historic milestone never before achieved. No artist had managed to rank five of her studio work as the best-selling albums during a calendar year.
Her 5 'best sellers' also show the evolution in the way music is consumed. In 2009 she began her romance with the charts thanks to the 3.22 million Fearless records she sold. She had to wait 5 years to repeat thanks to 1989 that shipped 3.66 million copies.
With the emergence of streaming platforms, her data dropped but not her popularity. Reputation in 2017 was the best-selling album in the US with 1.9 million units sold. Lover in 2019 did the same with 1.09 million. And Folklore has closed 2020 with almost 1.23 million copies.
For the past two years in a row, Taylor Swift has dominated the market. In those years, only one album managed to sell more than a million units and the honor on both occasions went to the West Reading-born soloist.
