The Trump family is already more profitable than the Kardashian
Or why the new First Family is also the one that interests the most in the whole world, and not only for political reasons.
Even those who did not vote Republican do not stop admiring the looks of Ivanka Trump or Melania, as already happened at the Inauguration Ball. They may criticize them, but they don't stop following them.
There was a time when the Trumps only appeared in the media as a family of eccentric millionaires who did curious and fascinating things. Melania herself was the epitome of the model from humble origins who had grown up and who had embraced life as bling bling as if she had been born into it. Donald Trump, for his part, made headlines as a real estate mogul, as the owner of the Miss Universe pageant and as the star of his reality show, The Apprentice.
It seemed to everyone another eccentricity when he ran to become a candidate for the US presidency with the Republican Party. Things started to look less funny when he beat Ted Cruz and his other rivals in the game and went on to compete directly against Hillary Clinton. On November 9, the electoral result was an earthquake throughout the country, with an expansive wave that spread to the entire planet and today is shaking more strongly than ever. Despite the internal and external rejection it generates, the new President and his family are extremely popular (we are talking about being known, not acceptance) and, incredible as it is, they are already more profitable than the Kardashians themselves.
The interest generated by the Trumps is already much higher than that of the media - and tabloid meat - Kardashian family. You just have to do a quick Google Trends, and the searches could not be clearer: the First Family is much more sought after than this friendly Armenian gynecocracy in the United States.
The celebrity blogger Pérez Hilton already predicted it even before the elections, in September 2016: the Trumps are the new Kardashians. He recognized that while they weren't his devotion, they were true click generators because people were so interested in his life. All this coupled with the overexposure of the Kardashian-Jenner in recent years, both in the media and in networks, began to cause an understandable saturation in the public.
The Trump clan, in addition, has all the elements so that the public wants to know more about them, beyond the rejection that the President's policies produce. And they have a lot in common with the klan in many ways. For starters, there are many siblings and not all of different parents: Donald Jr, Ivanka, Eric, Tiffany and Barron are the 5 children of Donald who are joined by two former women, Marla Maples and Ivana Trump, plus a First Lady who is became a worldwide phenomenon after her appearance at the Republican Convention in that iconic Roksanda dress. All of them are already joined by a good number of grandchildren (8, at the moment) and spouses who also give rise to talk, such as Ivanka's husband, Jared Kushner.
Indeed, nothing to envy the matriarch Kris Jenner and her 6 children, Kourtney, Kim, Khloé, Robert, Kendall and Kylie with all her offspring. But their coincidences go beyond being very numerous.
For example, two of the most prominent members of both families have a common past with their own name: Paris Hilton. No one might remember, but there was a time when the blonde businesswoman and DJ's BFF was Ivanka Trump, with whom she was part of a documentary called Born Rich about girls like them, who were born rich. Then came K im Kardashian and the rest is history, but both shared Paris as her best friend. Of course, Hilton voted for Trump out of love since both families have had an excellent relationship for decades.
By the way, there was also a time when Kim Kardashian posed next to Donald Trump at events organized with him, and even Khloé herself tried to be part of her team by participating in the VIP edition of The Apprentice. She was fired and denigrated, as she recently recalled, but her initial goal was to pose for him.
But why do some characters end up being more popular than others? Because they feed the media with their ability to generate attention and, with them, attract money. That is, they are more profitable. Already on November 9, it was predicted that the 5 Trump children would become the new Kardashian. There was talk that even Barron had received a proposal to promote children's sports, something never confirmed. What is clear is that the Trumps sell despite attempts to boycott their firms.
There is already talk of the 'kardashification' of the Trumps by the media, which make headlines, headlines and people follow them regardless of their scandals. Even those who did not vote Republican do not stop admiring the looks of Ivanka Trump or Melania, as already happened at the Inauguration Ball. They may criticize them, but they don't stop following them. Could we start coining the term Trumpdashian now?
How, then, do you explain that while the world is horrified by Trump's decisions, all of his movements and those of his family have made them so profitable? Bryan Goldberg, CEO of Bustle, has found an explanation: "People are moving on with their lives. Young people are very politically engaged but they are not going to let this administration come between them and their lives." I mean, they can arrest the new President and everything around him, but they still want entertainment. And the Trumps provide a lot.
It is surprising how these families end up united in one way or another. Chelsea Handler, for example, blames the Kardashians for Donald Trump's victory because she claims that Americans have turned his life into reality. Poor, as Democrats all are (with the exception of Kanye West), they must not have been very amused that this responsibility fell on them.
So, despite the unpopularity of the president and his policies, the Trumps generate a lot of money to third parties. The post-election 'hangover' is not over but, as has happened with the Kardashians, at some point they will stop being so sought after and will be replaced by others. The cycle of interest is like this and very few people ever drink it. Everything that goes up must come down. But, for now, it is time for the Trump family, although it may not seem normal to us.
