What's Happening to Tom Cruise?

At 54, Tom Cruise is no longer the superstar that he was. It is a fact that the public has already gotten used to (by dint of not seeing him on paper) and that he also seems to finally assume. The handsome New Yorker actor had been stripping the daisy of the sequel to Top Gun for years, the film that launched him to fame, but it is not until now that he has finally decided to enter the cast, he confirmed it himself on a program TV show that he attended this week to promote Jack Reacher never go back, the second sequel to one of the franchises that keep him in the Hollywood fold. The other is Mission Impossible, which is already in its sixth installment, although in this case the project has been pending its premiere for months.

Another massive vehicle, The Mummy, in which he has participated and which has not finished premiering, is also in post-production phase. All (except The Mummy) are projects that keep him together with Paramount Pictures, the same multinational that ten years ago decided to fire him after a couple of blushing epidosids starring Cruise. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Tom Cruise was so excited when talking about his then girlfriend Katie Holmes who ended up jumping on the couch live. That and his growing relationship with Scientology made him persona non grata for his studies, which did him a favor after all.

The firing caused Cruise, then the brightest star in the Hollywood firmament, to suddenly become a loser in search of quality projects to rehabilitate his career. In the years following his jump off the couch, Cruise hired a new publicist and stayed away from big-budget action projects. His next two feature films, Lions for Lambs and Valkyrie, were more dramatic and more domestic films. In 2008, Ben Stiller surprised with Tropic Thunder, a comedy that he himself directed and performed with Jack Black and Robert Downey Jr. among others. The film featured a brilliant Tom Cruise, with a short but intense role in which he played Les Grossman, the caricature of a Hollywood mogul.

The role reminded everyone of how good an actor Cruise could be, but Paramount knocked on his door again and the actor didn't ask. The blockbuster drug was injected back into their veins and in 2011 they were already releasing the fourth installment of Mission Impossible. Since then, his resume has been filled with action films designed exclusively for entertainment, and the actor has also divorced Katie Holmes. And also of his daughter Suri, whom he has not seen for years, according to the Los Angeles chronicles.

His growing relationship with Scientology has become his main vocation, and he only comes out of ostracism to promote the current film. Also, his facial aesthetic touch-ups have been much commented, which have taken the freshness out of his face.He will now return to the role that gave him fame in the 80s, the pilot Maverick of Top Gun. An action film (another) where his talents as an actor will once again remain in the pipeline. In return, he will fill his pockets more.
