According to a TMZ report, Cena's car was struck from behind by a trailer truck. Fortunately, Cena was fine after the accident and did not sustain any injuries that would have prevented him from competing in his “Once In A Lifetime” battle with The Rock at WrestleMania 28 a few days later.

John's car accident occurred on Monday, March 19, 2012, according to his official blog. TMZ quickly became aware of the incident. The wrestling world was taken by storm when the news broke, but fans breathed a huge sigh of relief when it was reported that John Cena was unharmed. WWE posted photos of the car accident on its official website.


John Cena spoke to WWE and shared details about the incident shortly after.

John Cena was ready to face The Rock in a great match that closed out WrestleMania 28 that year. Cena and WWE had been preparing for the fight and promoting it for the past year. Fortunately for both parties, the accident did not end up causing major injuries, otherwise John Cena's long-awaited WrestleMania match would likely have been canceled.


John Cena vs The Rock helped WWE set a new record for pay-per-view acquisitions with WrestleMania 28 earning 1.3 million purchases. The record was held by WrestleMania 23. Fans will recall that this was the event where Stone Cold Steve Austin, Donald Trump and Bobby Lashley shaved Vince McMahon's head.



John Cena won many more titles and is currently a 16-time World Champion. He has not competed in a WWE match in over a year, but has made it clear that he is not done with professional wrestling.
