Winona Ryder revealed she's been married to Keanu Reeves since 1993
The actress said that she gave the "yes, I do" in front of a real priest in Romania during the filming of "Dracula" under the orders of Francis Ford Coppola
Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder, stars of the new romantic comedy, Destination Wedding, would be legally married in Romania thanks to Francis Ford Coppola. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly promoting her new film, the actress revealed that she married Reeves during the filming of Dracula in 1992.
"I swear to God I think we're married in real life," Ryder stated, explaining, "In that scene in the movie, Francis Ford Coppola used a real priest. We shot the entire wedding from start to finish. So I think we are married, "said the actress.
This information surprised Reeves himself, who did not remember the events that occurred 26 years ago with such clarity. "Did we say yes?" The actor asked his possible wife.
To which Ryder replied: "Don't you remember that? It was Valentine's Day," the interpreter explained to the Matrix star who finally concluded: "Oh, we're married."
During the filming of Dracula, Ryder was 21 and Reeves 28. The actors were one of the most iconic film couples of the 1990s and have worked together on two other films, A Scanner Darkly and The Private Life of Pippa Lee.
Destination Wedding will premiere on August 31 in the United States.
