Jennifer Lawrence laughs at mixed reviews for her performance in "Mother!"
Jennifer Lawrence has received from high praise to harsh comments for her starring role in the new film by Darren Aronofsky.
Jennifer Lawrence prefers to ignore her harsh reactions to her latest film "mother!", Which was cheered and booed at its first screening this week and left critics torn between love and hate.
The horror film, directed by Darren Aronofsky, stars Lawrence as a young pregnant woman whose life falls apart when unexpected guests arrive at the secluded country house she shares with her husband.
Some of the more sensational scenes include Lawrence burning in flames and a human heart being flushed down the toilet.
"The reviews have made me laugh a lot," Lawrence told reporters at the film's London premiere on Wednesday, following its world premiere at the Venice film festival.
"People either love her or hate her and I think that's good. No one has come out indifferent and I love that," she added.
Variety critic Owen Gleiberman called the film "a baroque nightmare all about itself," while New York Magazine's David Edelstein called it "presumptuous and grand."
Peter Bradshaw of the British Guardian newspaper gave it five stars, adding "as horror it is ridiculous, as comedy it is surprising and hilarious, and as a machine to make you hallucinate it is wonderful."
