Kim Kardashian seeks her roots in Armenia

The 34-year-old Kim Kardashian social media star, who rose to fame as a result of a reality TV show, was greeted in Armenia by an ardent crowd when she landed alongside her husband, rapper Kanye West, her daughter North, and her sister Khloe at the airport in the Armenian capital, Yerevan. Some fans hope the visit will draw attention to the country, which is about to commemorate the massacre of the Armenian people of 1915.
Last night, some girls dressed in traditional dress gave the American celebrity bread and salt as a welcome greeting. "I am happy to be here," said the young woman in response to numerous questions from journalists. Also in front of her hotel in the city center, numerous people gathered, as well as many journalists and camera crews to follow in the footsteps of Kardashian and her companions.
On her Twitter account, with more than 30 million followers, Kardashian wrote: "We are so grateful to be here and to start this once-in-a-lifetime journey."
I am looking forward to exploring "our" country and trying the "delicious" food, she added. Kardashian wants to follow in the footsteps of her ancestors. Kim's great-grandfather, Tatos Kardashian, immigrated to the United States in 1913, two years before the massacre, allowing him to avoid the horrors of persecution and the mass deportation that her people experienced between 1915 and 1923.
This Thursday, the reality star and her family were received by the Armenian Prime Minister, Hovik Abrahamyan Before, Kim and her sister Khloe had posed in the morning before the monument of Mother Armenia, in the Park of the Victory.

The centenary of the massacre
According to the organizer of the trip of the American star, Kim has traveled for the first time to the country of his ancestors to "work on a documentary film on the Armenian genocide" - the massacre, by Ottoman soldiers, of thousands of Armenians during the First World War- and "remember its victims". The actress and presenter will participate as of next week in the events to commemorate the Centennial of the Genocide.
In the meeting with Abrahamyán, Kim and Khloé vowed to continue their fight to achieve wide international recognition and condemnation of the massacre.
During her eight-day visit, the 'celebrity' and her troupe must visit the massacre memorial in Yerevan and the National Archives to consult documents about her ancestors. She is also expected to visit Gyumri, where her distant family resides.
The visit coincides with the commemoration of the massacre of the Armenians 100 years ago. Numerous foreign authorities are expected to attend the grand ceremony scheduled for April 24.
Some fans hope that her presence will draw attention to the events that will commemorate the event. "On Facebook and other social media, there may be tens of millions of people, not Armenians (who follow her)," a middle-aged man outside Kim's hotel told Reuters. "If they find out about the genocide, what and who we are, what happened to us, I think [the visit] will have a positive impact."
