Marilyn Manson loses record label contract after abuse allegations
Rock singer Marilyn Manson lost his record label contract after "Westworld" actress Evan Rachel Wood said he "horribly abused me for years."
Wood, 33, who dated Manson, 52, since around 2007 and was briefly engaged to him in 2010, made the accusation Monday on Instagram.
“The name of my abuser is Brian Warner, also known to the world as Marilyn Manson. He started harassing me as a teenager and horribly abused me for years, ”he wrote. "He brainwashed me and manipulated me into submission," he added.
Three other women also posted allegations on Instagram Monday against Manson of emotional and psychological abuse in the past 10 years.
Manson's record label, Loma Vista Recordings, said in a statement Monday that in light of the "disturbing allegations" by Wood and other women, the company "will stop promoting their current album with immediate effect."
"Due to these troubling developments, we have also decided not to work with Marilyn Manson on future projects," the Loma Vista statement added.
Manson said in an Instagram post that his intimate relationships have always been consensual.
“My intimate relationships have always been totally consensual with like-minded couples. Regardless of how - and why - others now choose to misrepresent the past, that is the truth, "he wrote.
The singer-songwriter is known for his gothic-inspired black clothing and heavy makeup. His hits include "The Dope Show" and "Personal Jesus."
Wood had testified before the United States Congress and the California Senate about her experience with domestic violence and rape without identifying the culprit.
The actress began her career as a child in films such as "Thirteen." She also worked on "The Wrestler" and on the television series "Mildred Pierce."
