Melania Trump tells friends she has no interest in being first lady again
Melania Trump has been living a life away from the limelight since Donald Trump left the White House
Former first lady Melania Trump has said she is not interested in returning to the White House, amid speculation about Donald Trump's re-run for office.
The model-turned-businesswoman has told her friends that she has no interest in returning to the White House and "being the first lady again," CNN reported, citing anonymous sources.
Since the Republican leader's unceremonious departure from power in 2020, Trump has kept a low profile. She was last seen in July with her son, leaving Trump Tower in New York City.
"Being the first lady again is not what she wants. For her, it was a chapter and it's over," a person close to her during the White House tenure told CNN.
Despite not making a formal announcement, Trump has kept the door open for her presidential race in 2024 through crowdfunding and rallies. Trump's team had more than $ 100 million on hand, with more than $ 82 million raised in the past six months.
Trump is likely to hold rallies in Iowa and Georgia, in an attempt to maintain her position as the most potential Republican candidate for the upcoming election. According to the FEC presentation, its 'Save America' fundraising committee has spent more than 700 thousand on events in the first half of 2021.
The former president's former press secretary, Sean Spicer, said Trump would run again for the presidency. "He's in," Spicer said, adding "a couple months ago, he wasn't sure. Now, there has to be something to keep him out."
However, Trump has avoided being present at the event and rallies. "You will not see her at rallies or campaign events, even if he 'officially' says he will run again," another person aware of her disinterest in supporting the repeat of the former president told CNN.
Instead, it will be Lara, the wife of Trump's son Eric or Kimberly Guilfoyle, the girlfriend of Trump's oldest son, Don. They have the same drive that Trump has to run, Melania absolutely does not, "the person added.
Previously, speculation about marital discord between the couple abounded. She was allegedly waiting for the end of Trump's term to separate from him. However, that has not happened so far.
