Melania Trump’s awkward moment with Donald at World Series
Melania has been caught looking less than impressed while attending a World Series game with her husband and ex-President Donald Trump.
A video has captured Melania Trump looking less than impressed while attending a World Series baseball game with her husband and former President Donald Trump.
The couple attended Game 4 of the World series between the Atlanta Braves and the Houston Astros at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday night.
As expected, all eyes were on the pair, with one camera capturing a rather awkward moment during the match.
The footage shows Mr Trump giving the thumbs up and clapping as a smiling Melania stands next to him.
But as she turns away from the camera, the former First Lady’s grin quickly drops into a grimace and she can see seen letting out a sigh as she turns her attention back to the game.
Eagle-eyed viewers quickly pounced on the moment, with political action committee MeidasTouch sharing the clip on Twitter with the caption: “This is gold”.
The post attracted quickly attracted thousands of comments and likes.
“As hard as she tries not to show it in public, on SO MANY occasions, she is so expressive in her OBVIOUS distaste for that man,” one person said.
One person said they “truly laughed out loud”, while others said they couldn’t stop replaying the video.
Another commenter questioned how she didn’t realise she was on camera, prompting another person to suggest she “does this on such a regular basis and it’s so automatic for her that she can’t even control it anymore”.
Melania’s unhappy expression wasn’t the only talking point of the evening, with Mr Trump sparking upset after performing the controversial “Tomahawk Chop” cheer – a racist insult to Native Americans – in support of the Atlanta Braves.
Mr Trump, who was notably booed when he attended a World Series game two years ago in Washington, joined thousands of Braves fans at Truist Park in Atlanta in making the chopping motion with his right arm before the Braves faced the Houston Astros in the best-of-seven Major-league Baseball (MLB) championship final.
He was seated in a suite down the right field line and was joined by Melania in the cheer, which Native Americans have deplored as a racist insult to their culture and heritage.
Racism targeting Native Americans hit home with MLB this year as the Cleveland Indians retired their nickname after years of complaints in favour of Guardians, the team’s new nickname.
Earlier in the week, Atlanta Braves CEO Terry McGuirk claimed Mr Trump had requested tickets to attend the game.
However, on Saturday, the former president released a statement thanking Major-league Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred and New York Yankees president Randy Levine for the invite.
MLB refuted the claim Mr Trump was asked to attend the game, telling Yahoo Sports in a statement that, as previously reported, he had requested tickets in order to attend.
Melania’s string of awkward moments
This isn’t the first time Melania has appeared to be less than happy in her husband’s presence, with multiple clips taken over the years showing her grimacing and avoiding Mr Trump’s attempts at affection.
The awkwardness began at Mr Trump’s swearing-in ceremony when Mrs Trump smiled at her husband and then completely dropped the smile, opting for a deep frown when he turned his back to her.

Shortly after, there was a cringe-worthy moment at the couple’s arrival to the nation’s capital. While exiting their plane in Washington, D.C. for the inauguration, then President-elect Mr Trump reached for his wife’s hand, only for her to quickly grab his hand and quickly drop it away from her.
In fact, there have been numerous instances where Melania appeared to snatch her hand away from her husband.
In one video, taken as the pair departed Air Force One in August 2020, the former First Lady appeared to snatch her hand away from her husband’s numerous times.

Then there was an infamous handshake greeting between the pair in 2017.
At an event at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, Melania appeared on stage in front of military members and introduced her husband, who was set to address the audience.
Instead of giving his wife a kiss or hug, Mr Trump shook her hand when he got up on the stage.

All of these moments have prompted intense speculation around their relationship, with many commentators even predicting the couple would split up after Mr Trump left office.
Last year, Omarosa Manigault Newman, an insider close to the Trumps, penned an explosive book which claimed to offer a behind-the-scenes look into the Trump administration – and his third marriage.
Speaking about the book on the British breakfast television program Lorraine in October 2020, Omarosa made several claims about the Trumps’ “very strange” relationship.
“It’s a very strange marriage. I’m very cautious to comment on the dynamics of a marriage because you never know what goes on behind closed doors,” she told the show.
“But I have known this couple since they were dating, they got married a year after The Apprentice aired.
“What I have observed in the last 17 years would make your head spin. Sometimes they like each other but sometimes she (Melania Trump) is repulsed by him.”
