Miley Cyrus Lit a Rolled Cigarette on Stage at MTV Awards
MILEY Cyrus was both witty and controversial on Sunday night when she appeared on stage smoking marijuana at the MTV awards stage while wearing a dress similar to that of wrestlers.
The former lead in Hannah Montana's films lit up a pot of marijuana on the stage of Amsterdam's Ziggo Dome - a controversial stunt that was hastily edited when the performance was broadcast in the US, as reported by the Mail Online.
When she picked up the award for Best Video for Wrecking Ball's music video, Miley smirked as she tucked her award into her $2,150 Chanel bag before pulling it out and telling the audience: "This can't fit in my bag ... but I found this!´
The act was deemed so controversial by MTV bosses that it had to be edited when it aired in the US. Instead, the program only featured a brief video of Miley receiving the award and thanking her fans.
But the 35-second video clip was later uploaded to YouTube, giving American fans a chance to see the controversial moment. MailOnline is awaiting comment from MTV on the singer's controversial move.
The Parents Television Council (PTC) praised MTV's move to edit the singer's controversial act of smoking drugs on stage.
In comments to MailOnline, PTC President Tim Winter said: "Last night MTV made a responsible decision and they did it perfectly."
"We certainly hope it will be the latter. We applaud MTV for acting responsibly to eliminate drug use on television, and we urge them to establish uniform policies for all programming."
Miley's decision to light cimeng´ on stage is also aimed at attracting the attention of her fans, thus prompting many people to write messages on Twitter, to comment on her wild actions.
Someone wrote: "There's a serious problem with Miley Cyrus?! Why did you smoke weed at the MTV EMAs awards?!´
While another added: "Haha Miley Cyrus is now smoking weed on TV. What's next?´
Adeline Tan posted: "So all I can say is Miley Cyrus is a terrible figure, and absolutely disgusting. Smokes weed & pretends to pick up trash on stage. #wth´
Miley appeared to be responding to criticism Monday via her official Twitter account. He tweeted: Sometimes in life have to decide not to give A* (act nice).´
Previously he wrote the message: Not broadcast (censored) and see on the internet what happens at the MTV EMAs!´
It wasn't the only cigarette Miley chose that caused controversy at the awards ceremony.
