Outrage over celebrity party in Medellín, in the middle of the pandemic
The meeting was to celebrate the birthday of singers Daniel and Liliana Calderón.
In social networks, a party of famous artists in Medellín went viral, who despite the coronavirus pandemic, celebrated, apparently without biosecurity measures, the birthday of Daniel, a vallenato singer, and Liliana, both children of producer Iván Calderón.
On Twitter, outraged users asked the authorities, especially the mayor of Medellín, Daniel Quintero, to take action on the matter and clarify what happened.
According to publications on social networks, the party was apparently attended by artists such as Nelson Velásquez, Hebert Vargas, Luis Cueto and Dj Marcela Reyes, who caused controversy because she had recently tested positive for COVID-19.
Urabá, critical area
A total of 1,359 new cases of coronavirus in Antioquia recently reported the National Institute of Health, for 44,730 infections. The department, with 24 deaths in the last hours, already adds 736 deaths from the virus.
In less than 20 days, in Antioquia Urabá the cases of coronavirus tripled. For now, the Antioquia Government is studying the possibility of decreeing a mandatory quarantine to reduce the contagion curve, which would be carried out by implementing the accordion measure, that is, four days of reopening for three of isolation and closure that has been applied a month ago in the ten municipalities of the Aburrá Valley.
The manager of the Francisco Jiménez de Carepa Hospital, Jairo Machuca Tehran, confirmed that to date 105 people have died with the disease, with Apartadó being the most affected municipality in the region.
Meanwhile, the governor in charge of Antioquia, Luis Fernando Suárez Vélez, said that with mayors of Urabá they are analyzing a unified strategy to establish measures to reduce the steep contagion curve in the subregion.
Based on this consensus, it will request permission from the National Government and the corresponding decree will be drawn up.
