Selena Gómez confessed that she does not like to be called "pretty"

Selena Gomez revealed that she does not like being told that she is "pretty" and that comparing herself to other "perfect" women caused her depression.

Selena Gomez recently revealed that she doesn't like being called "pretty" and she explained how she has been affected by comparing herself to other "beautiful women."

The singer is taking time off to take care of her mental health and treat the depression that she has suffered from for a long time, due to the enormous pressure she felt for work.

Gomez explained in a podcast called "Dream It Real" that she does not consider the compliments that are made about her physique to be a good thing, since she would prefer that people know her and love her because of her personality and not only by how she looks.

"I do not like people to judge me by how I look or anything like that ... I like men to tell me that I am pretty, I know I am, but I would like more that someone loved me for the person I am," he said.

Selena explained that the bad thing about the networks is that they only show the physical part of people, but they do not allow us to see what there is beyond how their body and the way they dress.

In addition, she stressed that spending a lot of time on Instagram seriously affected her, as she constantly felt bad when compared to the images of "perfect" girls that flooded her timeline, in addition to being very exposed to negative comments and attacks for the photos she uploaded.

"It's not very healthy to be on Instagram all the time because I got depressed seeing people look perfect all the time, so taking breaks is very important," said Selena.

The singer also spoke about the importance of recognizing when you have mental health problems and going to therapy, since more and more people feel affected by the excessive use of social networks.
