What is the nickname for Elon Musk and Grimes' son?
Grimes shared a new nickname for X Æ A-12, the son he had with businessman Elon Musk.
Claire Boucher, known worldwide as Grimes, had a son with the billionaire tycoon creator of Paypal, owner of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk. The news shocked the world, and yet no one expected the uproar that would ensue when her name was announced. When the couple explained that the boy would be called X Æ A-12, the internet erupted with teasing, memes and candid questions about how to pronounce that complex name. Now, faced with the difficulty of pronouncing this name, Grimes explained how he confidently nicknames the newborn.
Apparently, the Canadian singer realized, too, how impractical it was to always call her little son X Æ A-12, so she gave him a more accessible nickname and shared it with the world. Apparently Elon Musk and Grimes confidently call their newborn “Little X”. This translates to “Little X” and is considerably easier to pronounce than X Æ A-12.
In any case, a few days ago, X Æ A-12's parents explained their own versions of how the name is pronounced. Grimes said it was pronounced "Ex Ash A Twelve", while Elon Musk considered it to be said "Ex Ash Archangel Twelve" on Joe Rogan's podcast.
However, the couple had to change the name to enter it on the birth certificate because the state of California does not allow Arabic numerals in official names. Thus, Grimes and Elon Musk had to change the boy's name to Roman numerals, so his name ended up being X AE A-Xii. When they received this news, Grimes explained on social media: “Roman numerals. Looks better tbh. " (Roman numerals. Looks better, to be honest ”).
In another post, he also explained the reason for this cryptic name:
“X is the variable of the unknown. Æ is my elven script for AI (Love & / OR Artificial Intelligence). A-12 = the forerunner of the SR-17 (our favorite ship). No weapons, no defenses, pure speed. Wonderful for battle but never violent + (A = Archangel, my favorite song) (metal rat). "
To be perfectly honest, no one is quite sure they have understood the explanation. In fact, it appears that Elon Musk did not fully understand the matter either:
“This was all Claire's idea. A-12 was my contribution. The Archangel-12, forerunner of the SR-17, the coolest aircraft ever made. "
With this son, 48-year-old Elon Musk now has seven children (one of whom died at 10 months of age). Six of these children were born from his marriage to Justine Wilson that lasted 8 years between 2000 and 2008. Later, in a two-year marriage with actress Talulah Riley, he had no children and, since 2018, he has had a public affair with the singer. and composer Grimes.
