"Shooting [the sex scenes] was torture," Gyllenhaal said with a laugh: "But it wasn't torture either. I mean, come on, it was a mixture of both."
"Curiously, love scenes are uncomfortable because maybe there are 30 or 50 people watching. That does not make me," he explained about this type of more intimate scenes: "It is strangely mechanical. And it is also a dance, you are doing a choreography for the camera. You can get into the scene, but it's like a fight sequence, you have to choreograph it. "
The pillow trick
Gyllenhaal has also admitted that, for the recording of this type of sequences in The Good Girl, they used a pillow: "We used the pillow technique. It was only preventive and is generally used always when you have a horizontal scene in a movie" .
It is a film trick that involves putting a pillow between two actors who are having sex on the screen. "I think it was Jennifer who suggested it," added the actor: "She was very kind to suggest it before we started. She said: 'I'm going to put a pillow here."
