Jennifer Lawrence's strong fall during the Oscars

The 22-year-old stumbled closer to receiving the Best Actress statuette for her role in "The Light Side of Life."

Jennifer Lawrence won the Oscar for Best Actress this Sunday for her role as a young bipolar, widow of a policeman, in "The Light Side of Life."

However, the comment the next day was the strong fall that the young woman suffered when trying to go on stage to receive the statuette of the Academy.

"You are standing up just because you feel bad because I fell!" The actress joked when taking the floor.

She also took the opportunity to question the prejudices against mental illness: "If you have asthma, you take asthma medicine. But if you take medicine for your mind, you carry a stigma behind."

Known for her dissatisfaction with the role of diva, the 22-year-old actress had already gained critical respect in 2011, when she was nominated for her leading role in the independent film "Winter's Bone." But she had to wait for a franchise and a hit David Russell romantic comedy "The Hunger Games" to acquire true star status.

"The Light Side of Life", nominated for eight Oscars, arrived at Sunday's gala with the record of being the first, since 1981, to compete in all four acting categories: actor and actress for Bradley Cooper and Lawrence, and supporting actor and actress for Robert De Niro and Jacki Weaver.

The only one to win the statuette was Lawrence, who won over Jessica Chastain, for "The darkest night"; Emmanuelle Riva, for "Love"; Quvenzhané Wallis, for "Beasts of the Wild South" and Naomi Watts, for "The Impossible."
