Lady Gaga, a stage name in tribute to Freddie Mercury?
There are two versions that converge on the reasons that led the singer of the hit "Alejandro" to choose Lady Gaga as a stage name. The first wants "Lady Gaga" to be a tribute to singer Freddie Mercury, adored by the American star. In 1984, the group Queen released a song called "Radio Gaga". Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta (Lady Gaga's real name) decides upon discovering this title to take inspiration from this song to create her own stage name.
A typo behind the name Lady Gaga?
For Rob Fusari, ex-manager and former companion of the singer, Lady Gaga's name is the result of a typo. In attempting to send the title of Queen's song to his protégé, Rob Fusari unwittingly made a typo, turning "Radio Gaga" into "Lady Gaga". The real Lady Gaga (who announced her big comeback in 2018) would then have fallen for this stage name.
