Miley Cyrus wins Best Video of the Year at the 2014 MTV Music Awards
Miley Cyrus won the Best Video of the Year award last night for the song “Wrecking Ball” during the 2014 MTV Music Awards gala held in Inglewood, near Los Angeles. The singer beat Beyoncé and her husband Jay Z, nominated for “Drunk In Love”, Iggy Azalea in collaboration with Charli XCX for “Fancy”, Pharrell Williams and his “Happy”, which was nominated for the Oscar, and Sia for “ Chandelier ”.
The artist did not repeat the controversial and commented performance that she starred in last year's edition with Robin Thincke. This time she didn't even go on stage to collect her award. On her behalf he was done by a "homeless person" who gave an emotional speech about underprivileged children, while the singer looked at him with tear-filled eyes. Another of the most heartfelt moments of the gala was when rapper Common asked for "a moment of silence" on behalf of Michael Brown, the young black man who died a few days ago in Ferguson (Missouri, center) due to the performance of a policeman.
