Why do famous people fake romances?
Some prestigious media speculate that Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston's relationship is a hoax. They would not be the first celebrities to fake fake relationships.
Tom Hiddleston and Taylor Swift, who is not new to the discipline of faking romances, are the latest suspects of making the public believe they are in an affair. The press already speculated a couple of years ago that her courtship with Harry Styles had been a hoax. Now, the singer is accused in some prestigious media of using the flirtation with the British actor to steal the limelight from her enemy Kim Kardashian, another character who, like so many, has flirted with commercial strategies that ennoble or make such brief couples fail like pilgrims.
The list of fake couples shares an extension with the reasons that can lead famous people to lie about her private life instead of protecting it or, precisely, to protect it. Because, according to the journalist Pilar Eyre, “the first reason is usually the cream, this type of exclusives give money. But there are other reasons such as hiding homosexuality or going back to the covers ”, she sums up. “I do not know what reasons lead these current characters to sell montages, but throughout my career I have seen many gay actors who always invented a lady that they had to take to their side. Homosexual gallants were frowned upon and journalists, even if we knew it, were forced to ask about these couples so as not to arouse suspicions about their sexual condition. The paradigmatic case is that of Rock Hudson, who even married his secretary. The veteran journalist points out other reasons that can explain the commitment of famous people to montages that leave their image on the ground. “Of course, sometimes it responds to commercial interests of a film premiere or a record. The protagonists of a new movie tend to fall in love during promotional campaigns quite often. But there are also many cases of false romances whose motive is to regain lost prominence.
