After almost five years of relationship, Britney Spears and Sam Asghari announced their engagement on their respective Instagram accounts. Asghari's talent manager, Brandon Cohen of BAC Talent, told Page Six that the couple "are deeply moved by the support, dedication and love they expressed" following the announcement.
Asghari reportedly asked the big question at the singer's home, with a ring featuring a 4-carat round brilliant stone in a platinum cathedral setting, enhanced with a floating solitaire design. Additionally, she also has the Asghari nickname for Spears, "Lioness [Leona]", recorded. Roman Malayev from New York designed the ring.
"All the designers I talked to about the ring were amazing with great ideas, but I just clicked with Roman; we really connected with the design and he was just as excited as I was to make it special, which is why I chose it," said Asghari in a statement.

Rumors of the engagement between Spears and Asghari began in early September after the actor was caught seeing rings at Cartier in Beverly Hills. However, a source revealed at the time that the couple were not yet engaged.
Although the couple had repeatedly expressed their wishes to take the next step, the guardianship that Britney's father exercises over her was an impediment. Recently, Jamie Spears petitioned a court in Los Angeles to end the guardianship of the singer, which would allow the artist to marry and have children.
"Ms. Spears has told this Court that she wants to regain control of her life without the safety barriers of a guardianship. [...] She wants to be able to marry and have a child, if she so chooses.
