The Princess of Pop herself Britney Spears has left her fans decoding the meaning behind her latest social media post featuring a creepy baby
Britney Spears has baffled her fans with a creepy photo of a woman with a skull-faced baby.
The Toxic singer, 39, took to Instagram to share a Victorian era-style image of a woman holding a baby with a bare skull for a head.
Britney captioned the snap: "Devil is in the details [smiling devil emoji] …. wouldn’t want this baby to hit me one more time [three laughing emojis] !!!!"
Of course, the singer may just love an excuse for a pun recalling her classic 1998 chart-topper ...Baby One More Time.
However, other Britney followers took to the comments section to suggest there is a deeper meaning behind the post.
One person replied: "This has to mean something!"
A different follower commented: "Okay guys what’s the hidden message!!?!!?"
Meanwhile, another person penned: "Can’t really tell whether this is a hint for something or not..."
Elsewhere, one fan just enjoyed the humour, noting: "Mad respect for the baby one more time joke."
Similarly, another got in on the joke theme, writing: "Does this mean your loneliness is killing you?"
Finally, one Britney follower concluded: "This is unsettling. We all hope you are ok!!"
This wouldn't be the first time Britney fans have theorised that there are deeper meanings to her social media posts.
The post is one of the latest amid increased debate regarding Britney's conservatorship, which has been in force since 2008 following her much-publicised mental health breakdown.
The singer has not been in complete control of her finances and important life decisions since 2008, with her father Jamie Spears among those who have controlled these decisions in her stead.
It was confirmed by Los Angeles Judge Brenda Penny earlier in February that Britney's father Jamie Spears must continue to share control over the singer's finances with the private trust company, Bessemer Trust.
This upholds a decision to share power that was made in court in November.
However, despite this share of conservatorship power, Jamie still remains in his role as a co-conservator.
Earlier this month, Jamie's own attorney attorney Vivian Lee Thoreen defended Mr Spears' actions surrounding the conservatorship.
She told CNN : "Whether or not there is an end to the conservatorship really depends on Britney. If she wants to end her conservatorship, she can file a petition to end it."
Ms Thoreen added: "Jamie is not suggesting that he is the perfect dad or that he would receive any 'Father of the Year' award.
"Like any parent, he doesn't always see eye-to-eye on what Britney may want.
"But Jamie believes every single decision he has made has been in her best interest."
Last week it was reported that Britney's lawyer Samuel Ingham had lodged a request to the court in Los Angeles to allow Jodi Montgomery to take on the permanent role of head conservatorship of her person.
Jodi previously took on the role as head of Britney's person temporarily to fill in for Jamie in September 2019, meaning she handles decisions regarding Britney's wellbeing.
Jamie would remain in his position as co-conservator of her estate with Bessemer Trust, with partial say in her financial decisions alongside the private trust company.
The next hearing about her conservatorship is scheduled to take place on April 27.
