Dwayne Johnson accused Vin Diesel of "manipulation" for using the death of Paul Walker to try to get him back in the "Fast & Furious" franchise.
Dwayne Johnson blamed Fast and Furious Vin Diesel, co-star of "manipulation," after publicly asking Dwayne to return to the franchise despite private discussions.
Dwayne and Vin have been in a controversial relationship since 2016, when Dwayne called his male colleagues in a fierce Instagram post, which has since been deleted.
“My female co-stars are always great and I love them. However, my male co-stars are a different story, ”he wrote on his last day of filming. The fate of the furious. “Some act like smart men and true professionals, while others don't. The ones who don't are too dumb to do anything about it anyway. Sweet asses ”.
He added, "When you see this movie next April and it seems like you don't play some of these scenes and my blood is boiling, you're right."
Although the pair seemed to be putting their differences aside, earlier this year, Dwayne revealed that the Instagram post had led to a private meeting with Vin in which they made it clear where they were with each other.
“I wouldn't call it a peaceful gathering. I would call it a clarity meeting, ”Dwayne told Vanity Fair in October. “He and I had a good talk in my trailer, and it was from that talk that everything went well. crystalline that we are two separate ends of the spectrum. And he agreed to leave it there. "
And then in November, Vin publicly asked Dwayne to revert to his role as Luke Hobbs for the tenth and final installment of the Fast and the Furious franchise.
“My little brother Dwayne… the time has come. The world awaits the end of Quick 10, "he wrote on Instagram." As you know, my kids refer to you as Uncle Dwayne in my house. There is no vacation that you spend that they and you do not wish yourself the best ... but the time has come. The inheritance awaits ".
“I told you years ago that I would keep my promise to Pablo,” Vin continued, referring to Paul Walker. And he added: “I say this out of love… but you have to introduce yourself, don't leave the franchise inactive, you have a very important role to play. Hobbs cannot be played by anyone else. The opportunity and fulfill your destiny ”. . "
Now, Dwayne has responded to the public request, saying that he was "shocked" by Vin's post, as they apparently had private discussions ahead of time confirming that he would not be returning.
"I was very surprised by Vin's recent post," he said Wednesday in an interview with CNN. "Last June, when Vin and I went online, I told him directly, and privately, that he would not be returning to the franchise."
"I was firm but friendly with my words and said that I would always support the cast and cheer for the success of the franchise, but that there was no chance that he would return," he continued. "I also spoke privately with my partners at Universal, who helped me a lot because they understood the problem."
Dwayne went on to accuse Vin of "manipulation" for using his children and the death of Paul Walker in an attempt to change his mind.
"Vin's recent public posting was an example of his manipulation," he said. “I did not like that he raised his children in office, as well as the death of Paul Walker. Leave them out. We talked about it months ago and came to a clear understanding. "
"My goal has always been to end my incredible journey with this incredible Fast and Furious franchise with gratitude and grace," concluded Dwayne. " It is a pity that this public dialogue has muddied the waters. Regardless, I am confident in the Rapid universe and its ability to consistently deliver to audiences, and I really wish my former co-stars and crew members good luck and success in the next chapter. "
Dwayne had previously played Luke Hobbs in Four of the Gods. Fast and Furious movie, although he was notably absent in the ninth movie earlier this year.
"I loved them all," he told the Hollywood Reporter after its release. "I wish you the best Fast 9. And I wish you the best of luck in Fast 10 and 11. Fast and the rest of the Fast and Furious movies you make without me."
