Kate Middleton surprises playing the piano at a Christmas concert
The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, has surprised everyone this Christmas Eve by sitting in front of the piano to accompany Tom Walker in his performance for the Christmas special Royal Carols: Together At Christmas broadcast by the British network ITV, reports the Daily Mail.
Together they performed the artist's new Christmas single, For Those Who Can't Be Here (For Those Who Can't Be Here), which reminds those who will no longer be able to celebrate the Christmas holidays with their families, especially now during the coronavirus pandemic that continues to plague the world.
The singer has revealed that he wrote it with her mother in mind and the recent passing of her grandfather. Also, "the basis of the song is that every year, around the table, my grandmother raises a glass and says' this is for those who cannot be here this year, let's take a little moment to remember them," he said.
The performance was recorded on December 8 by candlelight in the Westminster Abbey Chapter House and it was not the only one the program featured. Singers Leona Lewis and Ellie Goulding, actor Tom Felton and journalist Kate Garraway were also some of the surprise guests.
Participating in the event as music was the idea of Kate Middleston herself, who decided to invite Walker after hearing him sing Leave a Light On in a charity event in support of those who have problems with drugs and alcohol that both attended.
"We rehearsed the song about nine times," said the singer, who has defined the Duchess as "incredible music" and a person "very talented, kind, affectionate and charming." In addition, he has pointed out that it was "an incredible day" and "crazy" to be able to act alongside her.
