According to that newspaper, Michael Cohen paid Daniels $ 130,000 before the November 2016 elections so that he would not speak in public about the sexual relationship she had with the now president a decade ago. The post was a huge scandal, as the alleged relationship occurred shortly after Trump and the current first lady, Melania Trump, were married.
"The payment to Mrs. Clifford was legal and was not a campaign contribution or campaign expense by anyone," said the lawyer, who claimed to have given explanations to the Federal Election Commission after a complaint for alleged misuse of campaign funds.
