TRX, martial arts and vegan diet: this is how Scarlett Johansson prepared for her most demanding role

The 33-year-old actress has once again stepped into the shoes of Black Widow for the latest Marvel installment, 'Avengers: Infinity War'

Last April, Scarlett Johansson presented the latest installment of the Marvel universe, Avengers: Infinity War and, as happened in previous films, the American actress had to prepare thoroughly to get into the skin of the Black Widow - A Russian spy with incredible athleticism, as well as an expert in weapons and martial arts. Without a doubt, she has been the most demanding role of her and has required not only a lot of effort and many hours in the gym, but also a strict diet. This has been confessed by her former coach, Bobby Strom, who has revealed what the training plan he designed for the 33-year-old actress was like.

Losing fat and gaining muscle were the main objectives, since Scarlett had to have a perfect physical condition to be at the height of her character and be able to withstand the hard filming of all the scenes without problem. For this, as published by the PopSugar news portal, she performed several training circuits per week for 90 minutes. They included a TRX cable system, resistance bands, medicine balls and weights, making them the perfect combination for burning fat and gaining strength as it increased her heart rate by lifting more of her body weight. Bobby also attached great importance to cardio and included it in his exercise routines.

To get into the shoes of the Black Widow, Johansson had to learn to master martial arts and defend herself in close combat, so becoming a professional fighter was another of her goals. The one who played her double in The Avengers, Heidi Moneymaker, confessed in an interview with Shape that the actress was not afraid of anything and that she wanted to do most of the scenes, despite the fact that she had complicated fights. "She took advantage of any free moment to sneak into a training session (...) She was also trained with weapons. In the film she had many fights, in some she fought only one person but in others she faced many," he said.

As if all that were not enough, Strom confesses that the actress completed her training following a "mostly vegan" diet when she trained for the first Avengers movies, so it is likely that for the filming of this new installment she followed the same eating habits . Her trainer ensures that she ate small meals spread out throughout the day, focusing primarily on oatmeal, fresh fruits and vegetables, salads, and lean protein. Apparently one of Scarlett's favorite foods was cheese, but she assured the British Daily Mail that she no longer eats it, but ... she just smells it! "I don't eat it anymore because my body is better without it," she said.
