When Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas announced that they welcomed a baby via surrogate, fans are beginning to see their "hope" joke at the Jonas Brothers' family barbecue in a new light. On the show that premiered in November last year, he joked that they were "waiting," before adding "get drunk tonight."
Priyanka said at the Jonas Brothers Family Roast: "If you don't know, we're the only couple that don't have kids yet, so I'm excited to make this announcement." When Nick raised his eyebrows, she continued, “Sorry babe. Nick and I are waiting… to get drunk tonight and sleep until tomorrow!
"Your face was so funny when I said that," Priyanka joked. "Yeah, I was a little worried," Nick replied.
Fans shared the video when they realized Priyanka wasn't kidding. “Now I understand…why Nick put on THAT expression…Smart and clever! Congratulations,” one wrote. "Furtive!!! On Saturday, Priyanka and Nick shared the news of the newest addition to their family in identical Instagram posts. “We are delighted to confirm that we have welcomed a baby through surrogacy. We respectfully request privacy during this special time as we focus on our family. Thank you very much," they wrote.
While Priyanka and Nick have yet to confirm the gender of their baby, reports suggest they have welcomed a daughter.
Priyanka opened up about starting a family in a recent interview with Vanity Fair. “They are a big part of our wish for the future. By the grace of God, when it happens, it happens,” she said. Learning of her and Nick's busy schedules, she cheekily replied, "No, we're not too busy to practice."
