Hollywood: scandal grows after complaints against producer of Harvey Weinstein for s*-*xual harassment

The movie producer was singled out for s*-*xual harassment by at least 29 actresses and models early in their careers. The condemnation not only comes from Hollywood, but also from the high political sphere of the United States.

More and more actresses and models dare to denounce that they were victims of s*-*xual harassment and abuse by Harvey Weinstein. This Wednesday, the model and actress Cara Delevigne denounced the inappropriate behavior of the renowned producer and assured that she tried to kiss her when she began to make herself known.

Celebrity testimony has pushed other women to come forward with her story. For entertainment journalist Jake Cole, the statements can create a snowball effect and encourage other stars to break the silence.

And it is that the accusations against Weinstein were made known through an investigation by The New Yorker magazine, in an article that contains the denunciations of the Italian film star Asia Argento as well as Rosanna Arquette and Mira Sorvino.

Later, The New York Times revealed testimonies from Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie, who accused Weinstein of inappropriate s*-*xual advances early in his career.

The s*-*x scandal has drawn condemnation from big stars like Meryl Streep, Kate Winslet, Jennifer Lawrence and Jessica Chastain. Also actors like Colin Firth, Mark Ruffalo, George Clooney or Christian Slater have repudiated the alleged abuses.

However, it is feared that Weinstein's behavior has been widely known within his companies and in Hollywood in general. Precisely, the president of the United States Donald Trump said he was not surprised by the history of s*-*xual harassment of the film producer:

"I've known Harvey Weinstein for a long time, nothing surprises me," Trump told reporters as he left the White House to fly to North Carolina, where he was speaking at a Republican National Committee event.

Former President Barack Obama, whose daughter interned at The Weinstein Company, declared himself "disgusted" and said that "any man who humiliates and degrades women has to be condemned, regardless of his wealth or status."

Weinstein had been a prominent donor to Democratic politicians over the years, so Hillary Clinton and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi were quick to issue statements condemning Weinstein's alleged actions.
