Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet Announced Their Separation After 16 Years Together; "We have all felt the pressure of these times of transformation," they said.
Jason Momoa and his wife Lisa Bonet separated after five years of marriage and 16 years together.
The couple, who did not reveal the reasons for their separation, said they still have immense love and respect for each other.
Returning to her Instagram on Wednesday, the 42-year-old Game of Thrones star wrote a long note on Bonet's behalf.
"We have all felt the pressure and changes of these times of transformation ... A revolution is unfolding and our family is no exception ... feeling and growing from the seismic changes that are taking place," the joint statement reads. "Then we share our family news that we are separating in marriage."
"We share this not because we think it is newsworthy, but so that as we move through our lives we can do so with dignity and honesty," the statement continued. “The love between us continues, evolving in the ways it wants to be known and lived. We liberate each other to be who we are learning to be… ”
The statement concluded: “Our unwavering devotion to this sacred life, our children. Teach our children what is possible. Live the prayer. May love prevail J & L ”.
Momoa and Bonet began dating in 2005. In July 2007, the couple had their first child, Lola and Nakoa-Wolfa, in late 2008. The couple married in 2017.
