Flashback: Jennifer Lawrence is afraid of nothing and there is the possibility of a revolution in 'Passengers'

EXTRACTED FROM RS163, DECEMBER 2016

Meeting Jennifer Lawrence is no easy matter. Despite the fact that the actress has the unavoidable premiere of Pasajeros on her doorstep, it seems that she does not have enough time to promote the production. And we are probably talking about the most sought-after actress of her generation. It is for this reason that the appointment for the interview was after a photo shoot made a few blocks from the Sony Pictures studios in California.

Passengers is a romantic fantasy in space in which Jennifer plays Aurora Lane, an explorer traveling on a ship in which a malfunction causes her and James Preston (Chris Pratt) to wake up from that induced dream years ahead of schedule.

"What are you reading?" Asks the actress when she observes that she entered the room with my tape recorder and a book in hand. "It is an American novel titled A Little Life, written by Hanya Yanagihara which has been translated into Spanish," she replied.

Jennifer is sitting comfortably in one of the chairs at the large conference table next to the photo studio. "Would you like at some point to be able to emigrate to another planet?" I ask him to break the ice. "No, I do not think so. Well, it all depends on the outcome of the next elections in my country ”, she replies and lets out a loud laugh hinting at the atmosphere for the conversation. And the interview was held a few days before the controversial elections in the United States, which launched Donald Trump as president.

Days after the historic date in which the Republican candidate proclaimed himself as president and before a troubled world panorama, Lawrence wrote an essay which became a viral phenomenon: “If you are worried about the state of your planet, investigate everything that you can do to protect it. If you are concerned about violence caused by racism then love whoever is next to you more than ever regardless of their beliefs or political preferences. If you are afraid that a wall will be built that will cause a recession in our country, then let's organize ourselves and express our discontent ”.

Jennifer made her film debut in 2008 with the film Garden Party and later appeared at The Poker House where she shared credits with Lory Petty. She almost immediately joined the cast of The Burning Plain, the directorial debut of Mexican writer Guillermo Arriaga.

“Guillermo told me at that time that he would win me an Oscar. Well, to be honest, she told me that I would get four Oscares throughout my career ”, she confesses when recalling her participation in the drama starring Charlize Theron and which premiered as part of the Venice International Film Festival. “What is Guillermo doing now? Do you know anything about him? She asks me. "You have just edited his most recent novel, El Salvaje," I replied. “I just worked with another very talented Mexican. Rodrigo Prieto, our cinematography director at Pasajeros. I love Rodrigo. He's a really talented man, a great person, and in fact, I find him sexy too, ”adds Lawrence.
