Although the image above contradicts me… There is no tongue.

The stage kiss, then, is a kiss that is aesthetically charged with pleasure… But it sucks to feel. While in drama school, I had the same partner for almost every love scene I did. It was to be expected that we would develop some intimacy over time. We didn’t. And although she was beautiful, kissing her brought me no pleasure. This was good in practice, because in the second year, I started dating another girl and, well… It is better to feel joy kissing only those we are dating, right?

Of course, things vary. On television and cinema, for example, there are close-ups. If someone takes a close look at a more agitated stage kiss, they will notice that tongues are not working. So, many times, on TV and in the cinema, the actors actually kiss “for real.” It is the context of the scene that asks for it or not. Usually, the actors and actresses agree on what they are going to do before the stage. When the two are single and have no problems with it, the kiss can be real.

It has already happened to me: right after graduation, the girl who was always my romantic partner left the theater company, and we called a replacement. On the first day of rehearsal, I called her out of the room and told her that we would have to kiss several times on the play, and asked how she preferred to do it. And she said, “Like that!”, And kissed me for real. As I was single, no problem.

Many people think that actors and actresses are promiscuous or “shameless” — in the sense that we are not ashamed at all. And really, we have a lot less than normal. Perhaps, for this reason, we will end up being a little more promiscuous. But relationships are the same as those of people outside our environment. It is a job where, of course, you face temptations — after all, a good part of the actresses can be considered “above average” in terms of beauty, and vice versa. But just focus, think about what should be done in the play/show/movie and be professional.

And it is good to consider something else: many times the couple that is kissing has a straight element, and the other is gay. So, as much as there seems to be an attraction there, it is the least that is happening in the scene.

“Ah, but you can’t tell when it’s like that, Juliano!”

Of course not!

We are good!
