Tom Cruise to shoot first movie in space with help from SpaceX and NASA

Space has appeared many times in science fiction movies, but it was simply a set or recreation. But that barrier could be overcome in the next few years by Tom Cruise. According to Deadline exclusively explains, the American actor who starred in films such as 'Minority Report', 'Oblivion', 'War of the Worlds' or the 'Mission Impossible' saga, is in negotiations with NASA and Elon's SpaceX company Musk to shoot the first action movie in space.

This first film in space would not be a new installment of 'Mission Impossible'. At the moment the recording studio has not yet been chosen and is in the early stages of development, but the decision seems made and new details are expected in the coming months.

A space movie that would mark milestones

Tom Cruise is one of the Hollywood actors who has been seen performing more spectacular actions, from climbing the Burj Khalifa in Dubai to descending from a helicopter. In the 2013 movie 'Oblivion', Cruise took on the role of Jack Harper, a former NASA commander. Now, as Deadline explains, the actor will try to take a new step in his career and become the first "actor-astronaut" to record directly in space.

From his Twitter account, Jim Bridenstine, NASA administrator and Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX have confirmed the initiative.

"There has never been a protagonist who puts himself at risk as often as Cruise to achieve the most realistic action sequences possible. If he succeeds in filming a project on Musk's spaceship, he will be in the Hollywood Book of Records on his own. "Deadline explains.

As Nick de Semlyen, editor of Empire Magazine describes, 20 years ago Tom Cruise already spoke with James Cameron to try to shoot a movie on the International Space Station (ISS) and they even had several ideas for the story.

Recording in zero gravity will be a new challenge for Tom Cruise, despite the fact that he will theoretically have the help of two experienced organizations such as NASA and SpaceX, who on May 27 will make their first manned flight from North American soil.

From SpaceX they see space tourism as something viable and by the end of 2021, mid-2022 they hope to start private travel. Among them could be Tom Cruise, who hopes to achieve the necessary support to start one of the most ambitious and striking projects among which the actor has embarked.
