Drew Barrymore recalls moment she flashed talk show host David Letterman: ‘I pushed the limits a lot’
Drew Barrymore has spoken up about the moment when she flashed talk show host David Letterman.
The actress famously revealed more than the host had ever bargained for when she made an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman in 1995.
Drew, who was 20 at the time, jumped up on his desk and lifted up her top in order to celebrate David’s birthday and instantly blessed us with one of the most memorable late night show appearances.
During an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Drew recalled: ‘I think if there’s one thing I’ve learned in a very long life in front of people is there is a line.’
‘There is TMI. And I kind of know what that line is, and it’s a feeling.I pushed the limits a lot, many different times in my life. ‘
The 45-year-old added: ‘And I’m very lucky, I know that. I tested, I pushed, probably too far many a time.’
But the star is able to find a silver lining as she continued: ‘I at least tried to meet that blessing with having learned something.’
It’s safe to say Drew is a far cry from being the wild child star who became a tabloid favourite thanks to things like checking into rehab when she was 13.
And she admitted that her rocky childhood has had an impact on how she raises her daughters, Olive, seven and 6-year-old Frankie – who she shares with ex-husband Will Kopelman.
She admitted: ‘I wanna be all about, you know, the pillars of appropriateness and decorum. And I don’t lie to my kids. I’m, like, I had to find my way here.
‘So, yeah, I’ve lived a lot of different lives, and this is what’s important to me now. But, my kids have inspired me to be the best person I have ever been in my life, and I thank them every single day for that.’
